Software Development Engineer (SDE)

At EMIS our Software Development Engineers design, code and document high quality software to enable EMIS to build, enhance and maintain our products and deliver essential technology services to our clients and end users. 

In your role you will spend the majority of your time on engineering processes, be involved with peer review of code, project estimations and debugging as well as QA, patching and pre-production configuration. You’ll be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle and will work in a skilled team of up to 10 people applying fundamental software development practices to critical applications. 

Skills and attributes we would like you to have to suit this role may include: 

• Proven experience with Agile Development, (SCRUM/XP/SAFe) Programming methodologies  

• Developing Linux/UNIX applications in C  

• Developing Windows MFC applications in C++  

• Embedded SQL (with Oracle or Informix)  

• Customer Focus  

• Problem solving  

• Attention to detail  

Our product is a client server application with a Unix back end and Windows front end. However that is not the full story. It interfaces to other applications/systems in a number of different ways including:  

• HL7  

• REST API  

• eBXML Java Messaging Application  

• PKI / TLS  

Any experience in these areas would be of interest.
