Who are we?

At Anglian Water’s Strategic Alliances, we believe the best outcomes come from working together. Our alliances bring together industry-leading partners with a shared commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that protect the environment, support our communities, and improve essential water infrastructure across the region. By combining expertise, collaboration, and a forward-thinking approach, we create an environment where people can make a real impact, grow their careers, and help shape the future of water services for millions of customers.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to shape our People Development offering in one of the UK’s most ambitious and purpose-driven organisations. You’ll be contributing to a mission that goes beyond business performance—helping to protect the environment while enabling sustainable growth across the East of England. In this role, you won’t just deliver development programmes; you’ll design and embed a future-focused People Development strategy that sits across our Strategic Alliances teams and directly impacts leadership capability, organisational culture, and long-term business success.

You’ll work at the heart of a complex, multi-partner alliance, collaborating with senior leaders and our HR Business Partners to influence how people grow, lead, and perform with us. With the freedom to innovate, use data to drive decisions, and introduce modern development approaches, this role offers both strategic ownership and the ability to directly deliver impact—ideal for someone who wants to move beyond traditional L&D and truly shape organisational capability.

What you’ll be doing:

🟢 Leading and evolving the People Development strategy aligned to business and alliance priorities.

🟢 Building a scalable, future-ready development ecosystem that goes beyond traditional training programmes.

🟢 Translating business goals into clear leadership expectations, capability frameworks, and development pathways.

🟢 Working to close our current and future skills gaps using data, insight, and stakeholder engagement.

🟢 Owning end-to-end leadership and team development, from planning and design through to measurable business impact.

🟢 Coaching and advising senior leaders to enhance their effectiveness and leadership impact.

🟢 Embedding high-performing team principles across a complex, multi-partner environment.

🟢 Collaborating across internal teams and external partners to maximise development capability, including working closely with colleagues in the Anglian Water People Development team.

🟢 Driving innovation through modern, evidence-based learning approaches.

🟢 Ensuring all development activity delivers measurable value, with a strong focus on ROI and continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:

✅ People Development experience including workshop design and delivery.

✅ Proven experience in an L&D Manager/Leader role, where you were working strategically.

✅ Ability to work in complex and matrix environments.

✅ Organisational development thinking; shaping cultures, leadership behaviours and long term capability across the business.

Our vision and values:

We work as one team with a shared purpose: delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that protect the environment and support the communities we serve. Guided by our values we bring together industry-leading partners to drive collaboration, continuous improvement, and long-term resilience across our water infrastructure programmes. Together, we create an environment where people are empowered to make a real impact, develop their careers, and help shape a more sustainable future for the region.
