We are offering a rare opportunity to lead and shape the future of our retirement village housing services. As our new Head of Specialist Housing for Retirement Villages, you’ll take on strategic and operational leadership of a portfolio of 13 retirement villages, offering housing with support services and / or care services that are delivered through Local Authority partnerships
You'll oversee the delivery of person-centered housing services in complex, multi-tenure villages, many with 24/7 staffing. Some larger villages benefit from on-site partner care provision, and commercial facilities like cafés and salons. This is a leadership role where you’ll not only oversee a large diverse team, but also influence service delivery development, digital transformation, cost recovery, and compliance.
You will work closely with our other Head of Service for our Retirement and Supported Living portfolio in Specialist Housing. You will be leading and supported by, an experienced operational team and proven structure to deliver high-quality services that work to ensure safety, financial sustainability and that meet the needs of current and future customers.
Although this role is home-based, it is important you are visible to your teams and customers so regular travel to our retirement villages across the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Lincolnshire and Herefordshire will be required.

About You
You’re a confident and people-focused leader with a strong background in supported or specialist housing, ideally within services for older people. You bring a strategic mindset but aren’t afraid to get involved in operational delivery when needed. You’ll hold extensive experience in the housing sector.
You’ll have experience managing large, multi-site teams and be comfortable navigating the complexities of mixed tenure housing for older people, commissioned contract arrangements, service charges, cost recovery, , and regulation. Your financial and contractual skills are as strong as your ability to lead, influence and innovate. You’ll have proven project management skills to navigate and respond to planned and unplanned priorities.
You're emotionally intelligent, resilient, and able to bring colleagues, customers and other stakeholders with you through change. You’ll be comfortable setting standards, making decisions and always keeping the customer experience at the heart of your approach.
You’ll lead with empathy, compassion, and understand the complexities and difficulties that your team face whilst they strive to deliver exceptional customer-facing services to our most vulnerable customers.

Experience of budget management, including forecasting, analysis and setting

Awareness of age friendly design principles to enable sustainable homes for older people
