McCarthy Stone, the UK's leading developer and manager of retirement communities, is looking for a Buildings Manager to join our dynamic Divisional Property Operations team. If you're passionate about property, a hands-on problem-solver, and thrive in leading high-performing teams—this could be your next big move.

What you’ll be doing:

As our Buildings Manager, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing complex property issues, ensuring safe and high-quality outcomes across our developments. You’ll take ownership of:

  • Overseeing major works and contractor performance, ensuring compliance with CDM and Health & Safety standards.
  • Managing a team of Property Operations Technicians—directing workloads, setting goals, and driving high performance.
  • Using data insights (via Fixflo) to identify trends, support business performance, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Acting as first-line escalation for complex repair issues and collaborating with stakeholders across the business to find resolutions.
  • Leading site investigations and supporting NHBC resolution cases.

What we’re looking for:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Solid property/building management experience—trade background a plus.
  • Technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds) and a full UK driving licence required.
  • SMSTS and DBS/Disclosure (Scotland) highly desirable.

Skills & Strengths:

  • A strong communicator and natural team leader who thrives under pressure.
  • Organised, analytical, and confident using systems like Fixflo and MS Office.
  • Hands-on, quality-focused, and driven by outcomes.
  • Able to manage people and projects with professionalism, care, and accountability.
