We are looking for an experienced Chartered Engineer to join our highly regarded Flood, Coast & Maritime team in Bristol or Bradford-on-Avon, you’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting and diverse flood and coastal projects. This role offers you the chance to lead multidisciplinary teams and make a real difference on projects for key clients such as Natural Resources Wales, the Environment Agency, and local authorities. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of a range of flood risk management, river restoration, coastal adaptation, and water resource projects.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to produce high-quality project deliverables, ensuring they meet client specifications and fall within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and graduates, guiding them towards professional qualifications.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers and Project Managers to ensure smooth execution and commercial success of projects.
  • Support the development of innovative solutions for flood alleviation, river restoration, drainage, and sustainable infrastructure.
  • Work on a variety of projects with contract values ranging from £50k to £500k.

Essential Requirements

  • A background in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional engineering qualification with the ICE, CIWEM, or similar body.
  • Experience in the flood and coast sector, including the design and appraisal of schemes.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Experience in client and stakeholder engagement and presenting technical solutions effectively, including management of day to day relationship with regards to technical delivery
  • Pastoral care and staff management experience

Desirable Requirements

  • Familiarity with NEC Professional Service Contracts (PSC) and the ability to manage project changes.
  • Experience in developing business cases and preferred options using FCERM Appraisal Guidance.
  • Experience in developing and leading civil engineering outline and detailed design
  • A focus on sustainable solutions, supporting natural resource management and the journey towards net zero.
  • Experience with site construction to enhance design buildability.
  • Strong attention to detail in delivering project outcomes.
