The Vacancy
Stock Controller
Based at our flagship Distribution Centre, the Stock Controller’s key responsibility is to provide an excellent service to internal and external customers. You will continuously review all warehouse stock and trade operative van stocks to improve the number of first time fixes from van stock, and subsequently improve repairs colleague capacity and customer satisfaction.
What you’ll be doing
- Review daily stock usage by repairs colleagues to determine the scheduling order for van stock reviews
- Analyse van stock data and evaluate improvements in job completion rates by operatives, based on stock reviews, and report findings
- Collaborate with various colleagues including Planning Coordinators, Fleet Coordinator, and Warehouse Manager to schedule reviews, manage vehicle changes, and handle van stock adjustments, including sourcing and stocking new items
- Conduct full van stock audits recording differences, reporting any significant stock variances and replenishing to the correct stock levels
- Prepare new operative van stock
- Identify frequently hired tools and inform the Supply Chain Manager on order that those tools can be purchased
- Assist with responsive operative order requests raising purchase orders with suppliers
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to ensure material availability at the distribution centre, monitor stock systems, analyse discrepancies, and report issues as needed
- Ensure Distribution Centre orders placed with suppliers are monitored and are delivered on required dates
- Produce detailed monthly reports highlighting operative responsive ordering behaviour
- Assist in other areas when required due to operational needs

What you’ll need
- Experience of Stock Control within a busy Distribution Centre
- Excellent ability to analyse / manipulate data
- H&S knowledge and a good understanding of health and safety issues
- Experience of providing a customer facing, front line service in a busy environment whilst maintaining a courteous and helpful manner
- Qualified to minimum GCSE C in English and Maths
- PC literate with advanced knowledge of Excel
- Product knowledge of Trade materials would be desirable
