An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Strategic Team as a Projects Director to help drive forward KAM’s strategic agenda and plans. Our plans are ambitious and we are therefore looking for ambitious leaders who are keen to make a real difference for our customers, driving forward the success and resilience of Metrolink. As a Projects Director, you will work in close partnership with key stakeholders including the wider KAM Executive team and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), in delivering results in line with our contractual commitments and our financial sustainability plan.

With your proven ability of leadership at senior level, you will strategically manage KAM's pipeline of projects and lead a strong team in the planning and delivery of complex cross functional projects, ensuring highly professional and profitable project delivery. You will also play a central role in supporting TfGM in the delivery of their renewals and enhancements and by protecting Metrolink infrastructure and service during major third party works.

As a visionary leader you will bring energy, ideas and ambition to drive change and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing the safety, reliability and resilience of the Metrolink network for our customers.

Additionally, people leadership will be paramount, bringing KAMs vision and values to life through creating a just culture by putting safety and people at the centre of everything you do!

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Coordinate and manage project governance in KAM and with TFGM through timely and accurate reporting, tracking project progress, highlights, risks and opportunities.
  • Strategic management of all major & capital project planning and delivery circa £6 million per annum.
  • Effective budget management to deliver departmental financial targets and the wider KAM financial sustainability plan.
  • Build strong, effective relationships with key stakeholders including TfGM to promote the long-term vision of the asset to secure the enduring reputation of a world class network
  • Represent Keolis Amey Metrolink interests in negotiation with public authorities and other major stakeholders to ensure infrastructure and operational requirements are satisfied
  • Ensure all project delivery complies with relevant legislation, legal requirements, safe working procedures and ethical standards
  • Drive compliance excellence Including adherence to the Rule book, Competency Management Procedure, KAM systems, policy and standards

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive & demonstrable project and programme management experience of major capital works projects in complex engineering and safety critical environments from Initiation to completion.
  • Strong senior leadership experience, managing a team providing technical escalation, advice and guidance on project and programme management.
  • Effective budget management, managing projects on time and to budget.
  • Rail or similar compliance management experience.
  • Experience of joint business planning & third-party contract compliance and negotiation at a senior management level.
  • Strategic thinking - to develop a project pipeline with a balance on short terms and long term objectives.
  • Experience of working in a complex stakeholder environment, with an ability to influence at all levels internally & externally.
